Pumpkin Spice
MAE’S SEASONINGS PUMPKIN SPICE is excellent in pumpkin or apple pies. You can also add it to whipped cream for a topping for pumpkin pie. Also great in pumpkin bread, banana bread, muffins, cinnamon buns, and cookies. This will also be a terrific addition to pumpkin cheesecake. Mae’s Maple Pumpkin Spice is a wonderful way to spice up your oatmeal, granola, toasted nut and seed mixes, yogurt, smoothies, or lattes. You could also add it to apple crisp instead of just cinnamon. This is also great in your pancake or waffle batter. Or replace MAPLE PUMPKIN SPICE instead of cinnamon in any recipe. I added the maple sugar so that you can add this to your coffee or lattes without any more added sugar, also great in hot chocolate. Mae’s Pumpkin Spice catches the essence of Fall. A pumpkin spiced coffee or hot chocolate is a fantastic way to warm up after a chilly fall day. Mae’s Seasonings is passionate about enhancing the flavour of your meals.
CINNAMON is the main ingredient in Mae’s Pumpkin Spice. Cinnamon is most known for its use in baking especially during the Fall and Winter months; and goes over well with a very well-known Christmas beverage Eggnog. A powerful addition with apples. Cinnamon is also used in making Mexican Chocolate. Cinnamon also works very well in savoury dishes such as chili, tacos, butter chicken, curries, Moroccan Cuisine, Persian Cuisine, and fall veggies like acorn or butternut squash. You can also make a cinnamon sugar for your hot beverages, or this can also be used on toast and fruits.
GINGER is an incredibly good addition to the seasonal apples and pears that come in the Fall. Pear and ginger cake is an incredibly good example of this. Ground ginger is also linked with winter baking, such as gingerbread. The ground form of ginger is not as strong as fresh ginger. It has a warm bite and a slight sweetness, so it pairs perfectly with the other warming spices like nutmeg, clove, and cinnamon. Ginger can also be used with tea by infusing either black tea or earl grey with some fresh ginger. Fresh ginger is also traditionally used in Asian dishes like stir fries or noodle bowls. Once peeled and grated, it can used in marinades and glazes.
CLOVES is often used in baking recipes to give that warm essence. Cloves are usually linked to the holidays and are often used in festive drinks such as apple cider. Its best known use is in Pumpkin Spice, but can also be used in savoury dishes such as jerk seasoning , garam masala, and Chinese five spice powder. Cloves are known for its strong, bold flavour, so be careful how much you use. Even exceedingly tiny amounts you can easily overpower the flavours in your dishes.
NUTMEG is known for its warm, earthy, and slightly nutty flavours, making it the perfect addition for baking and savoury dishes. It is best when used in lesser amounts. If you use too much nutmeg, your dish or baked good could taste slightly bitter. Nutmeg is especially known for fall and winter baking like gingerbread, cookies, coffee cakes, or muffins. Nutmeg also works well with orange in both baked goods and savoury dishes. In savoury dishes, nutmeg goes great with meat dishes like Greek Moussaka and in soups, and stews. Sometimes, its even added to lasagne. Nutmeg also goes great with root vegetables, such as carrots, turnips, and parsnips, and other veggies such as sweet potatoes and winter squash. So, this is a perfect fall and winter spice to have in your cupboards.
MAPLE SUGAR goes great with MAE’S PUMPKIN SPICE so that no extra sugar is needed in your coffee or lattes. Plus, maple and cinnamon just work extremely well together in various baked goods such as cinnamon rolls, muffins, quick breads, oatmeal, scones, granola, cooked apples, and pears. And savoury dishes like Butternut squash, sweet potatoes, and a ham glaze. We only use 100% real maple sugar from Quebec.
