ABOUT MAE’S SEASONINGS

My name is Rachael Braun and I am the owner / operator here at Mae’s Seasonings located in Abbotsford, B.C.  All of the seasonings are hand – crafted blends fashioned by me from many years of experience as a professional chef.

As a professional chef, I was always on the hunt for a more flavourful seasoning without all the filler. When I would order seasonings for the restaurants I worked in, they just seemed far to bland and seriously lacked flavour. In 2010 I made my very first blend; Cajun Seasoning; and it was enjoyed so much that I began making more at home for family and friends.

My Cajun Seasoning was used on the Cajun Chicken Sandwich served at The Highwayman Pub in Abbotsford and it soon became one of the most popular lunch specials. This fantastic blend was also used in an Alfredo sauce to create a spicy Cajun Chicken Fettucine Alfredo!

I started out creating my first spice around 1999 when my children were small. Creating my own Pumpkin spice as well as Taco seasoning. I felt that the seasonings from the store lacked flavour. From 2010 to 2019, I created several seasoning blends and when I cooked with them, friends and family had suggested that I sell these amazing and delightful flavours.

So, I began the process of developing everything you see on this website and more. Researching the best spice companies to get only the best quality spices for my seasoning blends was the most important. No Filler! Pure spice was extremely important as it allows the true flavour to come out in your cooking. After solidifying a quality spice supplier, it was straight to work creating the best blends of spices you will taste.

When launching Mae’s Seasonings in Spring 2020, there were just 4 seasoning blends for sale and primarily it was through referrals, friends, family, and local residents. In the Fall 2020, the business had 11 Seasoning Blends, Dips and some Seasonal spice blends for the festive season.

Mae’s Seasonings has an aggressive goal to increase our seasoning blends to over 15 by the end of 2020 and introduce new Salt blends in 2021. As a eco-friendly and health conscious business, we are converting our current packaging to also be eco-friendly and biodegradable. Our new packaging will help reduce the carbon footprint and help preserve this beautiful planet.
