
Irish Beef Stew
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds stewing beef
- 2 tbsp Mae’s Seasonings Steak Spice
- 4 tbsp flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Oil for frying
- 1 onion, coarsely chopped
- 6 - 8 garlic cloves, minced
- 3 celery ribs, coarsely chopped
- 3 - 4 carrots, coarsely chopped
- 3 - 4 potatoes, coarsely chopped
- 2 cans (440 ml each) Guinness Beer
- 4 cups beef broth
- 2 - 3 tsp kitchen bouquet browning sauce*
- 8 tbsp flour
- 4 tbsp canola oil
Instructions
- Cut up beef into 1 inch pieces. Then in a large bowl, mix together Steak Spice, flour and salt. Add in beef and toss to coat pieces.
- Heat oil in a large frypan on medium heat. Cook beef until lightly browned. Transfer to a large pot.
- Add in onion, garlic, celery, carrots, potatoes, Guinness and beef broth. Stir to combine and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 4 - 6 hours or until beef is very tender. Add in browning sauce.
- In a small bowl, mix together flour and oil to make a roux. Add in stew until thickened slightly.
- *You can find kitchen bouquet in your spice department of your local grocery store.

SUGGESTED USAGE: Rub in olive oil then 1 – 2 tbsp per 1 lb of meat and let sit in refrigerator for at least 2 hours if time allows. But, let sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before you start cooking.
